For the first half of this term we focused on our coding skills, and we are now looking at Scotland's landscapes and how they were formed. Our big question that the class are working on is: Was Scotland formed by Fire or Ice?
This term we are learning about Forces and will then be moving on to learning about Democracy and our Rights & Responsibilities. We are also practising for our school show and are enjoying learning our lines, taking stage directions, and working on some choreography for the songs.
We have had a super first term getting back in to the swing of things. The P4-7 class have been learning about the Ancient Greeks, how they live and what they wore. They have created their own Greek inspired costumes with the theme 'Dress to Impress', and have written some wonderful Greek myths. In their personal projects, pupils could choose a famous scientist or inventor to research. Did you know that Mary Anning, the pioneering English palaeontologist survived a lightening strike when she was a baby?
The last term for our P7 pupils is always exciting, with lots of transition events planned, including a whole week at Alford Academy. We have also got Kodaly (music) each week, lots of PE activities to get ready for sports day, and we will be learning all about plants.
Our topic this term was The Jacobites, and we really enjoyed learning about them. The P7 pupils had an exciting residential trip where they got to try skiing, snowboarding, tubing, canoeing, swimming, archery and lots more. The whole class had some rugby taster sessions, organised by Active Schools and Deeside Rugby Club, and we also enjoyed celebrating Pancake Day and World Book Day.
The P4-7 class worked hard all term learning lines and practising songs for the school show, which they performed at Craigievar Hall during the last week of term. Their performance of Roald Dahl's 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' was fantastic and enjoyed by all.
We have had a super first term, with all our young people showing our core values of support, ambition, courage and inclusion. Well done everyone!
